1: Let’s GO!!

HEY EVERYONE! I’m going to take the time to blog the next 9 days while I’m here in Japan doing some R&D, getting original content, and doing some DRIVING! I can’t wait to share with you all the adventures, and most importantly, the knowledge I’ll bring back. I’m going to train hard, with as many drivers as I can, to learn as much as possible and bring all that new knowledge right back to you all!

This will be my first time blogging, so bear with me as my style of writing progresses and I find what works best. Self-progression is always my ultimate goal, for myself & you all, so I encourage you all to comment and let me know what YOU would like to see, and if you like the blog posts!

ENJOY

Choosing a flight is VERY important. Timing and patience is a big part when finding a flight for a reasonable cost. Flights range anywhere from $500-1200. If they’re more than that, they’re not worth it, in my opinion. Pricing depends on direct, layovers, time of year and a bunch of other variables. I’ll make a blog going more in-depth on this subject very soon. A full How-To on how to plan your Japan trip! This go around, I chose Delta. With only an hour layover in Atlanta, the total trip was only 16 hours! It was awesome, and the food was great. They feed you multiple times on the plane, and it’s all included! Just make sure to get an aisle seat, if you can!

The customs line was the longest I’d ever seen. Took about 45 minutes to get processed and get through to get to baggage claim! Japan is clearly popular amongst tourists for many reasons other than drift.

After all that waiting, it was time to wait in line some more to exchange USD for YEN. I’ve always found that the best exchange rates are in Narita Airport. No uncharges like in the US!

For those unfamiliar with Japanese currency, here’s a cool breakdown picture I saw!

Japan is so beautiful in the Spring. Even directly outside their airport, Koi Ponds are scattered around & you can see the Cherry Blossoms are still in bloom! This is going to make for some exciting pictures this week!

Next up was 1.5 hours on the bus which made for a lot of cool sights to see! I love these little Kai trucks!

And then you spot one car and everything changes

Keeping the camera around my neck at all times was a good idea! Amazingly clean S13/14/15 are everywhere. It’s not uncommon to see multiple dream cars on your daily route to the convenience store.

First stop was the shop to check on the cars! As always, there are always cars coming in and out and it’s awesome to see what new has arrived each time I come over! Enjoy the next group of pics showcasing what’s chillin’ at the shop currently!

Missed the Silvia!

Does anyone recognize this car? This drove from Europe to Japan….let that sink in for a minute. Now Chelsea DeNofa owns it!

Last trip, I bumped a buddy while chasing him in the mountains and it pushed the whole front bumper/support over a bit, so the Silvia is a bit ugly at the moment, haha.

My buddy, Andy just got this super clean 180! Unfortunately he had an incident in the mountains last weekend and hit a damp patch which pushed him off line and he brushed the guardrail. Luckily just an LCA and some body damage, but the car drove 2 hours back home as is! We’re going to get this sorted tomorrow in prep for the whole week!

After we left the shop, it was time for some much needed food. What better way to start off the trip than with some conveyor belt sushi! They recently changed how it’s done, and sushi doesn’t just carousel around anymore, it only comes around when you order. What’s crazy about Japan is everything is so robotic! A little robot greeted us at the door, we told it how many people we had, and it seated us. No waitress or waiter, and everything was done through touch screen at your table. Crazy world!

And the last stop of the day was the hardware store to grab an oil filter for the Silvia. This is the equivalent of a Super Walmart…except way more awesome. Because Japan.
